Flyball at Derby House Dogs
Fast, energetic and enormous fun for the right dog. We work with Aurora Flyball to bring coached Flyball training to Derby House Dogs, from dogs completely new to the sport through to those ready to build their skills further.

Is Flyball right for you and your dog?
Flyball is fast, exciting and great fun, but it isn’t always the best place to start. Choose the route below that sounds most like where you and your dog are right now.
Ready for Flyball
Your dog has some basic training, can work around other dogs and you’re looking for something fast, fun and properly coached.
Build Sports Foundations
Interested in sports, but your dog would benefit from more focus, engagement or training skills before jumping into Flyball.
Learn Flyball with Aurora
Flyball involves dogs working relatively close to other dogs and being handled by members of the coaching team.
Your dog should:
- Be able to work around other dogs without becoming overwhelmed or highly reactive
- Be comfortable being handled by people they don’t know
- Have a reasonable basic recall
- Be physically comfortable running, jumping, and playing

What is Flyball?
Flyball is a fast-paced relay sport where teams of dogs race side-by-side over a course of jumps, trigger a box to release a ball, then race back to their handler before the next dog goes.
It combines speed, focus, recall and teamwork, with dogs competing in teams of four. At competition level, races are timed electronically and teams are grouped by speed to keep the racing close and competitive.
Before you book Flyball
Flyball can be a brilliant outlet for dogs who enjoy fast, energetic training, but it isn’t the right starting point for every dog.
Your dog should be comfortable working around other dogs, have a reasonable recall and be able to engage with you in a busy training environment.
If your dog is nervous, reactive, easily overwhelmed or still building those foundations, get in touch before booking. We can help you choose the best route to work towards Flyball.
Who are Aurora Flyball?

Aurora Flyball provide the coaching for our Flyball sessions at Derby House Dogs, bringing specialist knowledge of the sport and a structured approach to helping dogs and handlers build the right skills from the start.
Their sessions are designed to develop each part of the Flyball sequence progressively, rather than simply sending dogs over jumps and hoping for the best.
